The wooden gate opens onto a patio of coral stone that has watched Cartagena pass by for three centuries. Light enters through the colonnade arches and falls on original works by Fernando Botero, Ana Mercedes Hoyos, David Manzur and Édgar Negret. Here you have breakfast, sleep and live among these works—not behind a cordon, but at arm’s length: a museum that, for once, is truly livable.
Every morning the breakfast is served in the central courtyard, under a work that in any other place would be behind a velvet curtain. In the evening, the terrace overlooks the tiled roofs of the walled city, with the wood-burning oven lit.

This house was not decorated: it was restored. Each room, each hallway and each room contain an original piece by Botero, Hoyos, Manzur or Negret—assembled to live with those who stay there, not to be seen behind a glass. 150 meters away, in Plaza de Santo Domingo, Gertrudis De Botero waits in the middle of the street: the collection begins before he crosses the gate.
In the heart of the walled city. 150 m away, Plaza de Santo Domingo and the Gertrudis by de Botero. 400 m away, the San Pedro Claver Sanctuary. 1.5 km away, the Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas.
